Do landfills accept used oil?
By Forinfos - 11/04/2025 - 0 comments
Many states, such as Illinois, have banned dropping used oil in the landfills. Used oil can damage the environment if not disposed of correctly.
If oil is poured out in the sink or on the ground, it can pollute the water or soil. If oil reaches the water, it can contaminate an entire water treatment plant. Oil should be placed in an acceptable container with a lid and deposited at a hazardous waste plant. Gas stations or recycling plants may accept the container and dispose of it properly. Used oil filters and old oil containers are generally accepted at landfills.
