Lansoprazole 30 milligrams is used to treat disorders such as erosive esophagitis, duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastric ulcers and Helicobacter pylori infections, according to Drugs.com. In some cases, it may be combined with antibiotics to treat other medical conditions.
Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, and it helps decrease the acid that the stomach produces, which causes heartburn, stomach ulcers and damage to the esophagus, notes Drugs.com. It is usually taken before meals, but it is not designed to provide immediate relief for symptoms and is generally taken over a prescribed period of time. Side effects include stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea and headache.
