What is the largest hammerhead shark?

As of July 2014, the largest hammerhead shark ever caught weighed 1,280 pounds and measured 14 feet in length. The catch was made on the morning of May 23, 2006, by Clyde "Bucky" Dennis off the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Dennis hooked the hammerhead with a stingray as bait, taking more than five hours to reel the giant fish in. The fight lasted 12 miles until the guide was able to land the fish with the aid of 130-pound test line. The shark was an estimated 50 years old with much of its weight due to it being pregnant with 55 pups.
