As of 2014, the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world is Mexico with a population over 105 million people. Spain and Columbia rank second and third in size for countries with large Spanish-speaking populations.

Although the United States as a whole does not have an official language, it ranks fifth based on the number of Spanish-speaking members of the population. Spanish is a growing language, with 10 percent of the world population expected to be Spanish speakers within a few generations. Other than Spain, most Spanish-speaking countries are found in the Americas, but Equatorial Guinea is a Spanish-speaking country in Africa, Andorra is another European Spanish-speaking country and the Philippines in Asia also has a significant Spanish-speaking population.
