China Mobile is the largest telecom company in the world, in terms of number of subscribers, followed by Verizon, AT&T and Vodafone, according to Forbes. As of 2015, China Mobile's market value is $280 billion.

Despite Verizon's $4.4 billion acquisition of AOL, China Mobile widened its lead in 2015 over its competition for global market share. While American companies, such as AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, have long been some of the biggest telecom companies in the world, China's state-owned organizations, such as China Mobile and China Telecom, have been growing rapidly in recent years. Other companies to make the top 10 globally include Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and Nippon.
