The last step of a sales process depends somewhat on the salesperson's approach. Typically, the last stage of a consultative selling approach is to follow up on the buyer's post-purchase experience. This follow-up may include a request for referrals of other potential customers.
In the historical transactional selling approach, the closing step was the end. Companies that take a long-term relationship approach don't view the close as the end, though. Instead, the follow-up step after a close is a transition into relationship management and the next sale opportunity. Other common follow-up tasks include addressing any problems or concerns, getting feedback and thanking the new customer for the business.
