The scent of lavender is floral and sweet and also has herbal notes with balsamic undertones. Because of its mild and pleasant scent, lavender is commonly used in cleaning products and for scenting clothes and body products.
Lavender essential oils are commonly used in aromatherapy to relieve muscle spasms and stimulate circulation. Its most common medical uses include relief of stress, anxiety, insomnia, agitation and moderate post-operative pain. Lavender is often prepared as a tincture or a tea for these purposes. A doctor should be consulted before using lavender for medical purposes, especially if the user currently takes any other medications.
