What layer is present in thick skin but not in thin skin?

Thick skin has a layer called the stratum lucidum in the epidermis that thin skin does not have. This is the layer designed to protect against ultraviolet ray damage from the sun.
Thick skin is found on fingertips, palms of the hands and soles of the feet. It has no hair, sebaceous glands and apocrine sweat glands. It features a thinner dermis than thin skin. The five layers of the epidermis, from the deepest to the outermost, are the stratum basale, the stratum spinosum, the stratum granulosum, the stratum lucidum and the stratum corneum. Thin skin, in addition to lacking a stratum lucidum, generally contains fewer eccrine/merocrine sweat glands.
