Movies2k is able to mitigate the likelihood of internal criminal prosecution due to it domain being based in the British Indian Ocean Territory. Movies2k claims to comply with Digital Millennium Copyright Act take-down requests and has a description of the process available on its website for rights-holders. Movies2k does link to some films not under copyright protection which are legal to view, such as the public domain film "Night of the Living Dead."
