What do lemurs eat?

A lemur is an omnivorous animal but its diet generally consists of a wide variety of fruits. They also eat vegetables, soft barks, nuts, saps and flowers. When it's not fruit season and food is scarce in its natural habitat, lemurs eat insects and even small animals.

All 90 species of lemurs live on the African Island of Madagascar. They move nimbly through trees using their feet and hands. Unlike their primate cousins, lemurs cannot use their long tails to grip trees. Most lemurs live on trees, though the ring-tailed lemur spends a lot of time on the ground, a trait that is unusual among its kind.
