As of 2014, 26 of the 32 clubs that make up the National Football League employ a staff of cheerleaders. Some cheerleaders are eligible for monthly contracts, and are not necessarily paid on a "per game" basis, but this is at the discretion of the organization. Most cheerleading squads also take home additional pay for promotions and public appearances outside of Sunday games. The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders are best known for this.
