What is "Let It Shine" about?

The movie “Let It Shine” is about a talented young hip-hop musician named Cyrus DeBarge who wins a songwriting competition, only to find himself discredited. The competition is sponsored by Cyrus' longtime crush and singer Roxanne, who falls for his best friend Kris, the false winner.

Cyrus is too shy to open up about his feelings for Roxanne amidst his growing discordance with Kris. The story eventually ends with Kris confessing the truth to Roxanne. The movie was directed by Paul Hoen and written by Eric Daniel and Don D. Scott. The Disney Channel released the movie on June 1, 2012.
