Lewy body dementia is a form of progressive dementia that leads to a decline in a patient's memory and mental abilities, according to Mayo Clinic. This disease is also known to cause visual hallucinations and issues with concentration and focus.

Lewy body dementia causes protein deposits known as Lewy bodies to develop in the nerve cells of the brain, according to Mayo Clinic. These deposits cause disruptions in thinking, motor skills and movement. Patients with this disease have degenerative mental abilities and also experience symptoms such as rigid muscles, muscle tremors and hesitant movements similar to those experienced with Parkinson's disease.
