The chinstrap penguin starts as an egg and can live up to 15 or 20 years. Its natural habitat is on isolated islands around the Antarctic peninsula.
A male and female penguin start the breeding season with a brood of eggs. The male assists in feeding and protecting the brood. The incubation period is about 33 to 35 days before the eggs hatch. After hatching, the parents care the young for about 20 to 30 days. Although the primary diet of the chinstrap penguin is krill, it also eats small fish and shrimp. It can dive up to 70 feet to find its food.
