The lifespan of a maroon-bellied conure parrot is approximately 25 to 30 years. The birds are known by a variety of names, including maroon-bellied parakeets, reddish-bellied parakeets, brown-eared conures or parakeets, scaly-breasted conures or parakeets, and Azara's conures.
Maroon-bellied conure parrots are social, playful, curious and affectionate when hand-reared, although they tend to be aggressive towards other parrot species. The bird's diet is made up of approximately 30 percent fruit, including apples, pears, oranges, pomegranates and cactus fruits. A variety of vegetables, including carrots, celery, green beans and peas, round out their diet. They also eat millet, oats, buckwheat and small amounts of cubed hard cheese.
