Lil Wayne has released a number of free music CDs, including "Da Drought," "Da Drought 2" and "The Prefix." Wayne plans to release another free CD entitled "The Free Weezy" album in 2015.

Lil Wayne experienced a number of setbacks with his music label, Cash Money Records, in 2014 and 2015. These setbacks included financial misconduct by the label and disputes over money still owed to Lil Wayne. The struggles with his label pushed the release date of his commercial album "Tha Carter V" back indefinitely. "The Free Weezy" album is the by-product of these delays, intended to give Wayne fans free music to listen to during the wait for his new album.
