A Linksys router's initial local address when purchased is always 192.168.1.1, but does not need to remain the same. The local address of a Linksys router can be manually changed at any point of time.
The local address of a Linksys router can be determined by launching the Command Prompt and executing the ipconfig command. The router's address is displayed against the Default Gateway.
A static local IP address that is given in place of the default 192.168.1.1 should be outside the range of addresses that the Linksys router assigns automatically. Resetting the router sets the device's local address back to 192.168.1.1.
