A chart of standard industrial classification codes can be found on the website of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The list includes the name of the industry, the associated SIC code and the A/D office number.
SIC codes are four-digit numbers assigned to businesses by the U.S. government. The code is used to identify the type of industry in which the business operates. SIC codes are used primarily for gathering statistical data on businesses and facilitating its analysis. They are also used to create federal industry standards and ensure all businesses are adhering to them. As of 2015, there are 1,005 different industry codes in use.
