What is lobster?

Lobsters are 10-legged crustaceans that are dwell along the bottom of oceans, freshwater and brackish environments. They are closely related to crabs and shrimp and are often caught and sold as food.
Some species of lobster can live for more than 50 years, continually growing throughout their entire lives. As they grow, lobsters must shed their outer shell. Female lobsters carry eggs underneath their abdomens for up to a year before they hatch. The larvae eventually settle on the bottom of the ocean and live in burrows, crevices or in sea grass. As of February 2015, populations of certain lobster species are declining due to over-fishing and pollution.
