How do you locate Dun & Bradstreet numbers?

Data Universal Numbering System, or D-U-N-S, numbers can be accessed only through the Dun & Bradstreet D-U-N-S request service. If a business owner does not have a D-U-N-S number, he can create one through the home page portal of the Dun & Bradstreet website.

Unless a business owner needs their D-U-N-S number in a very short time frame, accessing D-U-N-S numbers is free, reports the U.S. Small Business Administration. As D-U-N-S is a proprietary system, a business owner's number is only available through D&B. Once a D-U-N-S number is assigned to a business, the number cannot be changed for the entire lifespan of the business, and it cannot be reassigned to another business.
