To locate highway rest areas in a given region, go to Google Maps or MapQuest.com, choose a location and type "highway rest area" into the search bar. The websites then pull up lists of rest stops and similar services in the area, and locate them on the map.

Another way to locate rest areas on MapQuest is to pull up a map of the area you are searching in and then click on the Travel Services tab on the top left-hand corner of the map (the tab has a picture of a car and plane on it). This tab lets you locate travel services within your given area, including rest areas.
