Filming of the movie "Giant" took place in a small Texas town named Marfa in 1956. The movie's main filming location is the Reata mansion on the Ryan Ranch within the Marfa city limits.
"Giant" stars Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean in his final film. The movie is based on a rivalry between a ranching family and a cowboy that lasts two generations. The main scenes take place in the Reata mansion that barely still stands in Marfa, Texas, as of 2015. Filming of most of the other shots in the movie occurred at the Warner Brother's Burbank, California, studio.
