How long is the Alaskan king crab season?

Alaskan king crab season is approximately four months long in the Bearing Sea or Bristol Bay area, generally running from October to January; however, there are many varieties of king crab. Crab seasons vary according to species of crab and the location in which the crab is caught.

In the Bearing Sea, blue king crab is caught from November to January. In southeast Alaska, the king crab season is completely different. Golden king crabs are caught during spring months and the red and blue variations are caught in the fall and winter. Alaska's climate varies greatly in different parts of the state during different times of the year. This directly affects the crab season.
