How long does it take to become licensed as a waxing technician?

Some states requires as little as 250 training hours, while others require as many as 1500 training hours to obtain an esthetics license. However, the national average is 600 hours of training, as of 2015.
An esthetics license covers everything from performing facials and extractions to doing exfoliation and microdermabrasion on top of waxing. Some states, such as New York, allow people to get specialized licenses in just waxing with as little as 75 hours of training.
Because licensing requirements vary greatly from state to state, research into a specific state's esthetician license requirements is suggested. Contacting local esthetic boards can help answer additional questions.
