How long does it take to become an RN?

The exact amount of time that it takes to become a registered nurse depends on the program. When attending school full time, an associate degree program takes two years, while a bachelor's degree program takes four years.

If someone has a bachelor's degree in another field, entering an RN to BSN program may be an option. This generally takes a year to a year and a half, as this is an accelerated program.
