How long does it take gnocchi to cook?

When added to boiling water, gnocchi cooks in approximately 2 minutes. Once the gnocchi is floating on top of boiling water, it is ready to drain and serve.

Cooking pros recommend using about 4 to 6 quarts of water per pound of gnocchi being cooked. If gnocchi is frozen, it is best not to thaw it, but rather to place it directly into the boiling water from the freezer and stir the gnocchi until it's separated. Frozen pasta will require additional cooking time. Cooked gnocchi can be stored for up to three days in a refrigerator or frozen for up to a month.
