How long does goat gestation last?

A goat's gestation period lasts 150 days on average. This allows goats to reproduce twice a year if desired, and goats typically produce between one and three kids in each reproduction.

The goat birthing process is called kidding and is preceded by the mother's udders filling with milk in preparation for feeding her offspring. The kids' movement is visible on the right side of the mother in the later weeks of gestation but ceases within a couple days of kidding. Goats are able to begin mating and reproducing after reaching sexual maturity around the age of eight to ten months.
