According to WebMD, chalazions often disappear on their own within a few months without treatment. Doctors recommend home treatment with warm, wet compresses or over-the-counter eye wash. If a chalazion is bothersome or doesn't go away on its own, a doctor may treat it with antibiotics or lancing.
According to the Canadian Ophthalmological Society, a chalazion is a swelling or lump in the eyelid caused by blockage of one of the oil glands in the eyelid. Chalazions are usually not serious, but they may cause blurred vision if they are large. They respond well to treatment but may recur in some patients.
