How long do gorillas live?

The average life span of a gorilla is 40 to 45 years, but they can live past the age of 50. At the age of 35, gorillas begin to show signs of old age.

Older gorillas usually suffer from arthritis that causes damage to their hands and feet. They also suffer teeth loss and have trouble eating. Like humans, older gorillas typically move slower and become less active as they age. Because they have only been observed in the wild since 1967, there is no concrete data regarding their maximum age. When death is imminent, older gorillas sometimes go into seclusion.
