How long is ground beef good after it has been thawed?

As with all ground meats, as well as poultry, variety meats and seafood, ground meat or hamburger patties are only good for no more than 2 days after being thawed. Typically, refrigerators chill food at around 40 degrees Fahrenheit, which can help retard spoilage and the build up of bacteria, but can only do so for a short time.
If left unopened, and preferably placed into a resealable plastic bag or wrapped in additional plastic wrap or aluminum foil, ground beef and other ground meats can stay at premium freshness and flavor for up to 2 months. After 2 months, the meat will still be good, but ice crystals will begin to form and the flavors of the meat will begin to wane.
