How long has Groupon been around?

Groupon has been around since 2008. In 2007, co-founder Andrew Mason developed a company named The Point, which led to the startup of Groupon. Although Mason is no longer with the company, co-founder Eric Leftofsky continues to run Groupon, having taken over as CEO in 2013.

Groupon began its first deal with The Motel Bar downstairs from the corporate office. The success of the deal with the bar led to other local businesses joining Groupon. Within a couple of years, the company was active in multiple metropolitan cities in the United States. As of 2015, Groupon is available in the United States and internationally.
