How long do harp seals live?

Harp seals live from 25 to 30 years in the wild. They range from the North Atlantic to the Arctic and can be found in the open water and along the coastline.

Harp seals can weigh between 264 and 297 pounds and grow to about 5 to 6 1/2 feet long, with males being larger than females. The harp seal eats herring, cod and other fish and migrates long distances to find food, usually in noisy groups.

The harp seal is named for the harp-shaped markings on its back. Otherwise, its fur is usually silvery white. At birth, the seal pup is pure white.
