How long does the HomeAgain microchip last?

The HomeAgain microchip is designed to last for the life of the pet. As there is no power source and no moving parts, the chip never wears out or need to be replaced.
Composed of inert, biocompatible materials, the HomeAgain chip does not degenerate over time, but remains where it is implanted for the duration of the pet's life. Most of the time, the chip is inactive, but when a scanner is passed over the chip, it draws enough power to transmit the pet's unique I.D. number. A veterinarian is able to scan the chip during a regular visit to ensure that it is still working correctly.
