Long Island has three main ferry services - the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, the Cross Sound Ferry and the Fire Island Ferries - and each service changes schedules at different times of year. Service schedules also vary on weekends and some holidays.

The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat company offers service between Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Port Jefferson, New York. Ferries depart every 30 minutes in the summer season and every 90 minutes in the winter season. The summer schedule typically begins in late April and ends in October.

Running between Orient Point, New York, and New London, Connecticut, the Cross Sound Ferry offers year-round service on the same schedule. From June to October, the ferry company also offers lighthouse cruises on a SeaJet catamaran.

Fire Island Ferries depart for towns on Fire Island from Bay Shore, New York. These ferry schedules change every few months, and some routes stop operation in October.

Schedules for all of these ferry services change on holidays. In some cases, no holiday service is offered. Schedules may also change due to inclement weather or mechanical problems.
