How long does a lien last?

Each state has its own laws governing how long a lien can last. The duration of the lien depends on the type of lien and the item in question. Lien court proceedings are often handled by bankruptcy and debt attorneys because the cases can be complex

A lien is a judgement awarded by the court when a creditor has not been paid by a debtor, and this gives the creditor the right to sell collateral in order to recoup what is owed. However, a creditor may not have access to the entire value of the property due to many legal regulations. In some cases, liens continue to be in effect even after the property has changed ownership.
