How long do motorhome batteries typically last?

A properly maintained RV or motor home battery typically lasts about five years. When the lead plates inside the battery are no longer covered by water, it is a sign that a new battery is needed.
The life of an RV battery is extended by always maintaining the water level inside the battery and keeping the battery charged to its maximum capacity. RV batteries that have a low charge level take up to 72 hours to charge completely. When an RV is stored, the batteries should have the ground wire disconnected to prevent them from discharging. A bad battery discharges regardless of whether the ground wire is disconnected and should be replaced as soon as possible.
