How long have people been using ceramic pots?

People have been using ceramic pots for 20,000 years, radiocarbon dating shows. Researchers found the oldest known ceramic pottery fragments in a cave in the Jiangxi province of China. They published their findings in the journal Science.
The discovery of 20,000-year-old pottery in 2009 overturned the theory that ceramics and agriculture developed concurrently. People have engaged in farming for 10,000 years, which means that people began using ceramic pots 10,000 years before the advent of agriculture. People created the first ceramic pots during the Pleistocene Epoch, at a time when glaciers covered large parts of the earth's surface and when people obtained food by hunting and gathering.
