How long does your period last after a D&C?

Although the timing of the menstrual cycle is usually changed following a dilation and curettage, or D&C, procedure, WebMD doesn't note any changes in the length of the period following a D&C. It is normal for the period following a D&C to be early or to occur later than normal.
Because the lining of the uterus is removed during a D&C procedure, it must be built back up in order for a period to commence. This is the reason that most people will have a period later than usual, although the opposite is true for some women, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. Notably, some women experience light vaginal bleeding or spotting in the days following the procedure.
