Entering the 2014 season, the New England Patriots' Bill Belichick is the longest-serving NFL coach. The longest-serving NCAA Division I college coach is Frank Beamer of Virginia Tech.

The 2014 season marks Belichick's 15th season with the club, during which he has accumulated a .730 winning percentage and three Super Bowls victories.

Beamer has served as head coach of the Hokies since the 1987 season. He is the active leader among Division I coaches in victories and has guided the school to 22 consecutive bowl games.

The longest-tenured head coaches in NFL and NCAA Division I history are the Chicago Bears' George Halas and Penn State's Joe Paterno, who served as head coaches for 40 and 46 seasons, respectively.
