The setting for the novel Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo is a Florida motel called the Kentucky Star. The Kentucky Star is located in a wooded area where the protagonist spends most of his time.

Much of the novel takes place in the wooded area around the motel. It is in the wooded area that the protagonist of the novel finds a caged tiger. Published in 2001, Tiger Rising is Kate DiCamilo's second novel. Her first novel was Because of Winn-Dixie. Tiger Rising was a finalist for the National Book award. The novel is one of six novels written by Dicamillo.
