Loratadine 10mg tablets are used to treat allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, nose and throat, usually caused by pollen, dust or other particles in the air, says the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The medication may also be used to treat hives, according to the NLM.
Loratadine is effective in managing both seasonal and recurrent allergies and is safe for children over six years of age, says the NLM. While the antihistamine works well to block most allergic reactions within the body, it is not intended for severe or life-threatening allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis, says Web MD.
