Who has the lowest gas rates?

South Carolina has the lowest gasoline prices in the United States, as of October 2015. Mississippi, Alabama, New Jersey and Louisiana have the next lowest gasoline prices. Alaska, Nevada, California and Hawaii have the most expensive gasoline prices.

Experts expect that gasoline prices will drop because of an increased supply of oil in the market. Oil producers in the United States are drilling new wells in the Gulf of Mexico and on land with hydraulic fracturing. The United States has increased its domestic oil production every year since 2008, so it can refine less foreign crude at its refineries. Gas prices fall as oil prices fall.
