Is lucky bamboo poisonous to cats?

Lucky bamboo, also known as dracaena, is mildly to moderately toxic to cats and dogs, according to the Pet Poison Helpline. It is poisonous due to unknown steroidal saponins contained in the plant.
Symptoms of lucky bamboo poisoning include drooling, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea and dilated pupils, according to the Pet Poison Helpline. Other names for the lucky bamboo plant include corn plant, cornstalk plant, dragon tree, money tree and ribbon plant. Lucky bamboo is a catchall term for plants in the Agavaceae family. The Flower Shop Network recommends calling a veterinarian immediately if you suspect that a cat has ingested lucky bamboo.
