The size of the nodule is often indicative of whether or not cancer is present. Commonly, the larger thenodule, the higher chance that it is cancerous. Noncancerous nodules are often small in size and they can be the result of a previous lung infection. Benign nodules often do not require any treatment as long as they do not produce symptom. In order to determine whether a nodule is cancerous, a doctor must perform tests, such as CT scans and biopsy are required.
