Madam Walker's Wonderful Hair Grower was first manufactured in 1906. Madam C. J. Walker produced it in her Denver, Colorado, home and sold it door-to-door before she opened her first salon.
Madam Walker's Wonderful Hair Grower was one of five original products made by Madam Walker. The other products were Temple Salve, Tetter Salve, Vegetable Shampoo and Glossine. These products were designed to address the specific needs of African American women's hair and were completely unique at the time.
