What is a magnetic doodle board?

A magnetic doodle board is a drawing toy that consists of a drawing board, a few magnet shapes and a magnetic stylus. Japanese engineers invented this magnetic toy in 1974.

The magnetophoretic display panel is the most important element of any magnetic doodle board. It is filled with an opaque, relatively thick white liquid containing small magnetic particles, which can be drawn to the surface with the help of the magnetic shapes or the magnet-tipped stylus that come with the toy. There is an eraser bar on the side of the board that slides from side to side, removing the particles to the hidden back side.
