French cuisine is ever-changing, complex and varies by region, but there are some main staples, namely bread, cheese and wine. The French eat breads such as baguettes and croissants and a lot of cheeses such as Comté and Brie. Wine is the main drink of choice in France.
While bread, wine and cheese are France's most famous foods, the French have many regional specialities. In Burgundy, boeuf bourguignon and coq au vin are popular. In the south of France, seafood dishes such as bouillabaisse, a fish stew, are popular. In the west of France, the region of Brittany is famous for its crepes and galettes, thin and soft floury crusts stuffed with sweet or savory ingredients.
