What are the main religions in Kenya?

The main religion in Kenya is Christianity. Approximately 82.5 percent of the population identifies as Christian as of 2014. Almost 50 percent of those identify as Protestant, while the rest are made up of Catholic and other Christian denominations.

In addition to Christianity, Islam has a significant presence in Kenya. Approximately 11 percent of the population is of the Muslim faith. The rest of the Kenyan population practices traditional African religions or Hinduism or practices no faith. The country's constitution allows for the freedom of religion, however Christianity has the most influence due to a wave of missionaries that flocked to the country in the 19th century.
