Some major Algerian ports are in Algiers, Oran, Annaba, Bejaia and Skikda. Other ports in Algeria are Arzew, Beni Saf, Cherchell, Djen Djen and Ghazaouet.

Algiers is the capital of Algeria and is the country's most populous city. The port of Algiers dates back to Phoenician times. Algiers exports wine, oranges, vegetables and iron ore. Oran is the third-most populated city in Algeria, located to the west of Algiers.

Annaba is the 10th-most populated city in Algeria, located to the east of Algiers. The port of Annaba is Algeria's main exporter of minerals. Annaba is also important in the trading and fishing industries. The ports of Bejaia and Skikda lie between Algiers and Annaba.
