What are major league baseball general manager's salaries?

As of May 2010, the average salary for general managers in the MLB ranges from $500,000 to $2 million annually. For bigger market teams, such as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, salaries reach even higher.
The general manager is one of the most important people to the success of a baseball team. It is his job to put together a roster of players that stands to win as many games as possible and mesh well together in the post season. While a star player can pitch a shutout or hit a home run, he only gets to pitch one game every five days or appear at bat once every nine times.
